Network Rules
These rules complement applicable law and aim to ensure a fair, safe and sustainable IRC network environment. Violations may result in warnings, channel removal, account suspension or network bans.
Behaviour & Conduct
- Be respectful; no harassment or targeted insults.
- No discrimination (race, origin, gender, orientation, disability, religion).
- No threats, glorification of self‑harm or violence – seek professional help in emergencies.
- De‑escalate conflicts; provide logs privately to channel staff / net ops if needed.
Content
- No spam (advertising, mass messages, chain promotions).
- No illegal content or links to malware / exploits.
- NSFW / sensitive topics only in clearly designated channels.
- No posting of private third‑party data (doxxing).
Security & Technical Use
- Do not circumvent technical protections (flood / spam filters, ban evasion).
- Do not use open proxies / VPNs to conceal abuse.
- Bots must have a clear purpose, moderate resource usage and proper configuration.
- Throttle automated mass queries (WHO/WHOIS/SCAN) – avoid excessive load.
Channels & Moderation
- Topics should briefly state purpose + optional rules URL (avoid walls of text).
- Abuse of operator rights (arbitrary kicks/bans) is prohibited.
- Persistent protective modes (+i, +k, +m, +M) only when necessary – review regularly.
- Review ban lists for outdated or overly broad masks.
Accounts & Privacy
- Each physical user should use an individual account (no shared passwords).
- Transfer, sale or lending of accounts / trusts is not permitted.
- Report compromised accounts immediately; change passwords at once.
Enforcement & Reporting
- Report violations with relevant timestamps and (if needed) a concise log excerpt via email.
- Staff may take immediate protective action without prior notice in exceptional cases.
- Appeals via email – be factual and include context. Decisions can be revised if new information emerges.
